Essential requirements

Working as a nurse or carer in the community is very different from hospital or facility based work and takes a special type of person. Not only must the worker possess the appropriate skills to be able to efficiently perform their duties, they must also have the right values, personality and commitment to ensure the needs of their clients are consistently being met. Before we will accept any staff onto our books, all applicants must be able to demonstrate appropriate experience, skills and training. 

Our minimum requirements are:

  • 6 months recent practical experience in a relevant work environment (e.g. in-home care, nursing or group home, hospital, etc)
  • Current work rights in Australia
  • 2 employment or study related references
  • Moble 'phone
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Current registration with the NSW NMB (qualified staff only) or eligibility to attain it

It is to your advantage if you have:

  • Certificate III (Aged Care, Home & Community Care or Disability)
  • Current Manual Handling & First Aid Certificates
  • Your own transport with current NSW driver licence and fully comprehensive insurance (essential)

Before your employment with Allied Healthcare can be confirmed our Recruitment team will conduct a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of your skills and suitability. This process includes a one:one interview, National Criminal History Record Checking (NCHRC), a Working with Children Check (WWCC), reference checks and your participation in an induction/orientation program (including an on-line Occupational Health & Safety induction). With your cooperation, this exercise can take up to a week to complete but once it is finalised you will be able to start work immediately.
